Sumur Batu Bantar Gebang Septic Sludge Acceptance Plant is located in Bekasi, West java Indonesia. Since 2015, UPTD PALD (Regional Technical Implementing Unit of Domestic Wastewater Management)—an organization under DISPERKIMTAN (Office of Housing, Settlements, and Land) in Bekasi city, has mandated to manage the domestic wastewater management, including managing the STP.

With supports from USAID IUWASH—the former program of USAID IUWASH PLUS—Bekasi city government, UPTD PALD, and DISPERKIMTAN conducted a study visit on Septic Sludge Management the Philippines (HUBER equipped plant as well) in April 2016. This visit inspired the city government to develop a modern and environment-friendly domestic wastewater management system.

The plant owners sought advises from HUBER SE’s Indonesian partner, Grahadika Adipurnajasa, on how to manage their current problem on the increase of septic sludge but limited space. Hence the start of the project, integrating HUBER Septic Sludge Treatment Solution in their current Plant.

The plant has been in operation from early 2017 and its daily operation is to receive septage trucks for disposal through pond system and dry bed. The plant capacity is between 100 to 110m³/day and produces, on average, 11m³ of dewatered sludge cake every day. The dewatered sludge is used as fertilizer for non-food crops.

Bekasi city government plans to build two STPs with the capacity of 150 m³/day, each.
